Tim Martinek is riding on July 7, 2007 at Whitefish/July.
Hello! This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes in Whitefish, Montana, along with hundreds of other Riders across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $3.2 million.
I will be riding in honor of Tom Henry a young friend of mine with Type 1 diabetes. Tom will be joining me this year and riding in his first Ride to Cure Diabetes.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of people; a large and growing percentage of them children.
There is some good news, though. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime!
There is promising research being conducted right here in Eastern Iowa. The University of Iowa is taking part in studies on continuous glucose monitoring an important step in achieving an artificial pancreas. I know some of the young people who will be taking part in this study. It is funded by JDRF through donations from people like you and me. We can make a difference today in the lives of those affected by diabetes.
Now, more than ever, you can make a crucial difference. Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as possible? Together, we can make the cure a reality!
