Allison Blass is riding on August 29, 2009 at Killington.

Hello! My name is Allison and you probably found this page because you either know me or you clicked on the link from my blog, Lemonade Life (www.lemonade-life.com). This year, I'll be taking part in JDRF's Ride to Cure Diabetes in Killington, along with hundreds of other Riders across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $4.5 million.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes over 15 years ago, at the age of 8. Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating disease that affects millions of peoplea large and growing percentage of them children. I currently test my blood sugar 6-8 times a day and wear an insulin pump (it looks like pager) 24/7, along with a CGM for even tighter control. I do all this to keep myself healthy in hopes that I'll live long enough to see a cure.

I have been an avid supporter of the JDRF, which I believe will play a major role in finding a cure for diabetes. I am excited to participate in my first (of hopefully many!) Ride to Cure Diabetes. Please consider being one of my supporters with a gift of $10 (or more!) as I reach towards my goal of $4,000.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at amblass@gmail.com.

Anne Findlay 08/13/2009 Good luck Allison!! My main goal when I did a Ride was to raise money, but the experience really became much more meaningful to me than I imagined. Keep working on the bike--you can go farther than you might believe. If you get tired, consider whether you need to eat. Keep your cadence high and the pressure lighter on the pedals to avoid fatiguing the legs. Most of all, have a wonderful time. Best, Anne
